Your Path Forward
Commodore Michael Fortenbaugh recommends this path forward:
1. Start with Basic Sailing. At the end of this course, you will know so much more about the world of sailing as well as what we offer here in NY Harbor. https://sailmanhattan.com/basic-sailing/

2. Join Manhattan Yacht Club. If after basic Sailing you LOVE sailing, then join the Manhattan Yacht Club. This brings you into NY Harbor’s largest sailing community and give you lots of opportunities through the year. https://sailmanhattan.com/

3. Enroll in ASA 102 – If you like sailing but not yet ready to jump in with both feet, then do ASA 102 – Basic Keelboat 2. This will let you keep practicing and gain more confidence. https://sailmanhattan.com/keelboat-sailing-2/

4. Sign Up For De Caribbean Regatta. (This event is only open to Manhattan Sailing School graduates and Manhattan Yacht Club members) This week long sailing vacation takes you to the Caribbean and is completely life changing. https://myc.org/caribbean/

5. Sign up for Basic Coastal Cruising. To keep going in the American Sailing educational system, you can enroll in Basic Coastal Cruising 103 in NY Harbor this summer or in the Caribbean in the winter (does that sound nice?). https://sailmanhattan.com/basic-coastal-cruising/
